Technical Road Block – What can I do

technical road blockNo matter how many times people tell you that you don’t have to be technical to be an Internet Marketer, you will find it unavoidable and will hit a technical road block at some point or another. It’s a bit like a car, anyone after receiving the correct training can drive a car but it doesn’t mean you know how to change a flat tyre or top up the washer bottle, but you probably know someone that does and that’s how you get by.

When you are an Internet Marketer you should embrace the technology and not let it scare you. Like the example with the car, find someone that “knows how” if you hit a problem. They may resolve your problem but always if possible get them to explain in layman terms the topic around your area of concern. Sometimes you will find that it’s not as difficult as you thought and it was maybe just the terminology that was confusing you. Once you have this knowledge it could save you a lot of time in the future or you may come across someone else that needs your help.

Of course there are technical tasks that make no sense at all in doing yourself. Pay for an expert to do this work, they will complete it ten times faster and the chances are the quality of the work will be 100% better. If you are outsourcing a good place to head over to is www.fiverr.com or www.elance.com. From my experience you should also get yourself involved in a group / community of other Internet Marketers, as the amount of diverse skills you will find within these groups is amazing.

community

Communities are great places to find a “skills exchange” as well as making new friends to share ideas and tips with. You may be good at copywriting but not so good when it comes to technology. I guarantee you will find someone in the opposite position to you. If you look at some leaders like Tony Robbins or Richard Branson, they didn’t get where they are today by doing every thing themselves, they leveraged the teams and technical ability around them.

A final note before I finish, and this goes for most challenges in life, is that when you have a technical task that you need to complete, break it down into smaller chunks. What you are doing in effect is making yourself a system to complete this task. Once you have a system in place it is a lot easier to grow and up scale your business. And remember make life easy for yourself and actively get involved in a community with like minded individuals as you will be amazed by the rewards.

One Response to Technical Road Block – What can I do

    Hi Paul,
Very true, I am always amazed at how little knowledge people think they can launch a successful online business with, for me investing in myself to be able to learn the technical “bits” that were necessary to turn the cogs was essential! and spot on…the community is a great place to get questions answered and build relationships : )
    Kind Regards,
    Jayne.
